Praying in Tongues.
Romans 8 (v26) and 1 Corinthians 14 are devoted to the understanding of this awesome gift from God,
"and there came a sound from Heaven as a rushing mighty wind and there appeared unto them tongues of fire ...
and they were ALL filled with the Holy Spirit and began to Speak in tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance" Acts2:4
The gift is for every believer. 'they were ALL filled' God is no respecter of persons.
The apostle Paul said "I would that you ALL speak in tongues"
Whilst teaching on prayer in this video, the Spirit of God came upon me and I actually started to really pray for the person!
What started as an example for you, became a practical demonstration of prayer!
Notice the 'joy' that came afterwards.

Welcome ~ John Reynolds Ministries is an independent, trans-denominational Christian ministry. We are not affiliated with, nor supported by any church. We live by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ to provide..
We also operate a Free resource site, The Healing Ministry and our weekly webcast, In the Spirit.

Our desire is to see the power of God restored to the Church and to see God's people walk in it, as did the early Church. The Book of Acts and the pouring out of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost is the key to this. |

"I will pray with the Spirit, I will pray with the understanding" 1Cor 14:18
The reason we fail to see a lot of answers to our prayers is because we don't co-operate with the One Who was sent to help us, The mighty Holy Spirit, who also wants to pray through us as well.
Romans 8:26.. "likewise, the Spirit also helps our infirmities (literally.. 'weaknesses, or inability to produce results') for we do not know 'what' to pray for as we aught" We know 'how' to pray. Jesus
said "whatsoever you ask the Father in my name, He will give it you. So access to God the Father is through the name of Jesus, who is our righteousness. But we don't know 'what' to pray for,
so we try to work it out.. This is a major reason that many of our prayers seem to go unanswered.. We haven't co-operated with the One, in HIS language! He knows everything and prays thru us the perfect will of God
"For the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us.." He came to help us in all aspects of our lives, including our prayer life.
Grace is allowing the Spirit to go first. The first person to move in creation was the Holy Spirit.. God didn't say a thing until the Spirit moved first.. 'and the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters... THEN God said.."
We know the phrase 'not by might, nor by power but by My Spirit says the Lord' but when you grasp the reality of what God is saying here, it will cease to become a religious phrase and become the power of God in your life!
We don't know what is 'really' going on the lives of people or what is happening, 'behind the scenes' as it was. In Ephesians, Paul writes, "for we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities, powers, rulers
of the darkness of this age, against wicked spirits in the heavenlies" We don't know the truth of the situations that face us.. BUT thank God there is One Who does!
The Holy Spirit.. and He came to help us! Jesus said "I will send you another Helper" and this help includes our prayer life.
John Baptist was a type of the Spirit. He came to 'prepare a way for the Lord' and that's what the Holy Spirit does in our lives. Paul said
"I will pray with Spirit, I will pray with the understand also" Notice he put 'Spirit' first! We tend to put our 'works' first and try to figure out what to pray and then we stick a bit on tongues on the end for good measure.
Why not have faith in Him Who came to help us? Let Him go first in our prayer life! Allow His grace to pray the perfect prayers for us..
The Lord told me this the other day:
"The baptism of the Spirit is not an experience but the receiving of a Divine personality"
"He that speaks in an unknown tongue, speaks not unto men but unto God, for in the Spirit, he speaks mysteries" (deep things) 1 Corinthians 14:2
"and when the disciples which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the Word of God, they sent unto then Peter and John, who when they were come down, prayed for them that
they might receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.... Then laid they there hands on them and they received the Holy Spirit" Acts8:14-17
"and whilst peter was preaching, the Holy Spirit fell on all them that heard the Word and they spoke in tongues and glorified God" Acts:10:34-48
"and Paul having passed through through the upper coats and finding many disciples, said to them, 'Have you received the Holy Spirit since you believed?..
and Paul laid his hands on them and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied" Acts 19:2 -6
The loss of this gift is a major reason why the church has lot a lot of her power! Jesus commanded the disciples not to go anywhere until they had received power (Greek: 'dunamis' - miracle working power)
Jesus was baptised with the Spirit and had the most awesome ministry the world has ever seen.
The early Church was baptised with the Spirit and 'turned the world upside down'
We need Him too.
This gift is for all that will receive Him
God Bless
John
